Childhood Bliss

We had no worries or plans

Except to play when it rains

Sticking our tongues out to taste

Shouting on top of our lungs for fun

We had no dreams or ambitions

Just to play games and lay

School work our only foe,

Putting plans on hold

If we could be kids again

As kids we savoured the warmth of a full belly

Soft and plump with eyes wide/ shut to the world's complexities.

We shared sweets and secret with friends. And in that moment we were free.

Childhood problems, simple and few

Laid at our mother's gentle feet

As the school bell rings our cheers explode

Moving quickly to be at home

Throwing our bags and shoes wherever they can be, sitting still to watch the TV

At evenings we roam about

Some kick balls and some play dolls

We laugh with an energy unmatched

Sweat sticking down our faces

We play till the sun goes down, dusts all over our faces,

thirst and hunger taking over our brains,

we sigh at the enjoyment of that day.

If we could be kids again we will know nothing about politics. Our interest mainly centered on cartoons and food, to us that is all that seemed good.

As kids we viewed life with eyes of curiosity.

No pains just play, completely innocent and yet we prayed. The years pass by in a blur, ignorant of the world around us.

Days of our heads free of jargons

Days that are now bygones

If only we could be kids again
