Even as the  sun burned my soft skin

I shielded you from its scorching pain

I held you close and felt myself turn to dust

And when it was over I laid you under the evening clouds

And read a poem to you…

“Deeper and deeper as my heart sinks

I’ll dance around my pain over and over

Louder and louder as my heart beats

I’ll let my blood flow lower and lower

I’ll Ice the sun if it ever burns your skin

I’ll hum to the rhythm your footsteps play in my heart

And I’d turn away when my eyes bleed”

And when it was over I heard you whisper “I love you but your skin bleeds for me”

My bones weakened as your words sunk deep into my soul

A subtle feeling of joy calmed the pain my skin kissed

The memory of it all dared to wipe away

And i knew I’d do it all over again..

The clouds wept for two and its thunder screamed hoping I’ll understand…

But I laid above you till my teeth clicked

My bones stiffened and my lips tightened

And when it was over I laid you above the dry evening leaves and read you a poem

“Beneath my feet lay the scars of hope

My heart swells but only when you speak

Weighed from the feeling of intense lust

I’ll break every inch of my bones shielding you

And hope for the day you do same for me”

And when it was over I heard you whisper “love turned you to dust. i can’t hold you. I can’t keep you. I don’t want you anymore.”

I fell to my knees as I felt my skin fade away

My flowing eyes made it hard to watch you walk away

My broken bones left me laying lifeless

My skin torn apart from the scars

My heart broken from your words

And when it was all over

Calmly I read a poem

“Between all these whispers I was led astray

My heart swells in deep disarray

Our love remains unspoken

As my body heals from what was so broken

A feeling deeply unrequited

With its love never to be reunited .
