King Aegon of Old Valeria was the best of the best rulers ever to live in history. He loved his people so much that he would do anything to make sure they were happy. Every day, he would wake up before his first meal and take a walk around the kingdom to check on how his people were faring, making sure no one was starving or begging.

His people loved and adored him too. He was kind and merciful to everyone, even law offenders. He believed everyone deserves a second chance to get it right. The kingdom of Old Valeria was peaceful and prosperous during his reign. Women and children sang tales of his goodness and kindness on the streets.

But one day, a certain plague befell the kingdom. Crops, children, women, and men - both young and old - began to die. This was beyond King Aegon; he could do nothing to save his people from the plague, and it disturbed him greatly. He could barely eat or sleep; every day, people swarmed into the castle, weeping and pleading for his help.

Desperate to save his people, King Aegon sought out a mysterious entity who offered a terrible bargain: surrender a part of his own soul to save his people. It was a difficult decision; he didn't tell his wife or his advisors about it. He only assured his people that he was going to save them from the deadly plague that had befallen them.

He threw a grand party that night, unaware that it might be his last night on earth. The next day, King Aegon set out to meet the mysterious entity, and the entity tore a fragment of his essence from his being. As he felt his life force dying, his people began to recover, including the crops and the dried sea.

But as his people recovered, Aegon realized that something wasn't right. His people didn't recognize him anymore, not even his family; they didn't remember their past together. They had recovered, but they were not the same.

King Aegon tried to reach out, to reconnect with them, but he was pushed away. They didn't need him anymore, didn't love him anymore. King Aegon felt alone, a part of him killed, his soul shattered.

He wandered the earth, searching for answers, searching for them, searching for the people who had once adored him and loved him - the people he had killed a part of himself for. But they were nowhere to be found. "You killed a part of yourself to keep them alive, but where are they now?”
