I long for the land beyond the sea

The birds melodious tune affirmative to it

Worth the try; I took a daring search for a final destination, the way home

The way I never knew, but I knew when it wasn't the way

I took a path once that captured my freedom

A beautiful bird that was caged, it craved my submission

Another time I walked into a den of envious competition, I fought not to be a prey

Once I find my home, I'd be certain it's home

The memory of the place I belonged fuels my every passion to find my roots

I didn't say how I treaded paths of strangers, striking sirens, pirates all scavenging on my hopeful quest

I Put on a fight it was the least I could to see my long lost love

I walked hot coals, freezing grounds, muddy paths, through cornfields

I swam cutting through the tides and currents

My arms and legs ached but I wasn't giving up easily

The sea tossed me to and fro

She hoped I'd got weary and sunk beneath forever

The wind wasn't left behind, partnering with storms, she too kept me drifting from my identity

Until...

I found a way back and finally

I stood on her shores battered, broken, taken away from

But she pulled me into her engulfing embrace

A warrior, I stood before her my scars, deep cuts and bruises narrating my journey back to her

nursing me back to life, she gave me stronger wings to fly higher

Knowing that I would always find my way back home.
