Caroline 

Caroline walked as fast as her  legs would carry her to the school library. 

The smell of books and wood has always been able to calm her since she was a child. 

The library was a frequent visit when she was little because there was a library and bookshop in her street. 

She needed to get to the library as soon as possible so she wouldn't break down in the middle of the school. That is not a good look for the student president. 

She hugged herself tighter as she saw the security, Tobey smiled at her and opened the door for her without checking her Id. She impulsively lets out a long sigh immediately as she enters the library. The tears threatened to spill but she needed to get to her corner before the dam broke. She walks past other students, saying hello to familiar faces, takes the elevator to the third floor and finally breathes out in relief. 

She walks to her favourite seat, drops her laptop bag on the table and exhales sharply as the memory of what happened this morning assaults her. 

She took a deep breath as she remembers the text she got this morning. It was a picture of her. 

She knew it was from him, it was a picture of her wearing red lace pants only. It was a back view but her sleeve tattoos were showing and they made her identifiable. 

The idea of him knowing so much about her and the fact that she ever loved him makes her skin crawl. 

She needs to do something about this. 

She can't expose him. He has evidence of her affair with a lecturer. Screenshots of texts like it was taken from her own phone. 

She wonders when he did this. At first, she thought her apartment had been bugged with cameras because she definitely doesn't have the pictures he sent this morning, the only way he could have done this was if it was taken on her laptop. She sighs as she realises that it makes a lot of sense that way because her laptop is always opened, and its camera is pointed in the direction towards the same way the video was taken. That is the only way he could have a video of her with Professor Wilson if it is not a bug. It must be a malware. 

They decided to meet only in her apartment because they felt that going to an hotel would be risky, they could be recognised by anyone. So they always met in her apartment, the video was taken in her room. 

She feels extremely repulsed as she realises that her ex has  a video of her with an older man who is an amputee. 

A new wave of rage engulfs her. Even if she decides to expose him, Professor Wilson does not deserve whatever consequences will ensue. 

"Caroline?" 

She looks up. 

"Are you ok?"

She stares blankly at the owner of the voice. She is a red-head with freckles that made her face look like an art

"It's me Naomi, the girl who spoke to you about the dance club on friday in the cafeteria" 

"Oh! Hi! I am ok, i am so sorry. How are you?" 

"I am fine, i took your advice and i was able to get the Dean's approval to use the hall, i hope you are fine too, you look pale" 

"Oh i am fine, just feeling a little bit under the weather, I'm happy things worked out for you" 

Caroline replied, trying to shut down the conversation. 

Naomi must have gotten the hint or be in a hurry, she said her goodbye hurriedly and left. 

This is what it means to be the student president. You speak to a lot of people and sometimes even forget the conversations. 

She definitely does not really remember the  said conversation.

She sighs heavily as the text weighs on her mind again. 

Matt has been sending texts like they are still in a relationship. She remembered the first time he did it. 

At that point they had broken up for 8 months. Then she got a text from him.

"Hey baby, how is school?" 

She was so confused.

Next thing was a picture of her while she was sleeping. She remembers being gripped with thick fear because she knew that picture was from the night before the day he sent it. 

The hairdo was new. 

She remembers how frozen she was as she asked what he wanted. He didn't reply. The next time he sent a picture of her text, gossiping with a friend. Then it got worse from there.

More intrusive and disturbing. He's also threatening to expose her affair with Professor Wilson. If she doesn't break with him. 

 She needs to do something about matt. 

Matt

He sips his diet coke and glances at his laptop screeen as it loads the next screen for the video game. 

He thinks all women are stupid. But Caroline is a special kind of stupid. A lot of times in their relationship, he had to clean up her mess.

Women need looking after, they cant really be on  their own. They also need to be disciplined when they are going astray. 

And that is what Caroline has been doing by having an affair with that disabled old man. 

When she broke things off because she no longer loved him. 

He was ok with her decision because he thought she would come back to her senses. 

Then he found out about her affair. 

 He glanced at his laptop and realised that the network is slow which is very unusual. 

He looked through the Caroline folder on his phone. It contained a lot of things she can't even imagine. 

Matt has been keeping an eye on Caroline since they started dating.

He knows a few black hat hackers whom they share the same interests with, who introduced kinds of malware to him. His favourite is this one because it gives him access to cameras. It's called the Trojan Spy.

He installed it on her phone and laptop. She always gave him her phone and laptop when it had issues so he had a lot of opportunities to install it. 

His demands are simple. She must break up with the lecturer and go back to the right path which is coming back to him. 

Caroline

She wonders how she never got a hint on Matthew's evil behaviour. She thought he was socially awkward. She remembers one time in their relationship, they were seeing a movie; the lady was ending her marriage because the man was consumed with work. 

Matthew had whispered fiercely. 

"Stupid" 

It was the look on his face that had weirded her out. She thought it was because he didn't go out much and relate with people.  so he didn't know any better. 

He works for a big company as a software developer. 

That was why she was attracted to him. 

Because she also loved tech too, but Matthew did not know this.

Going by her addiction to the library and the smell of books, one would think she is a scholar and a lover of books but her main visit to the library has nothing to do with books. 

For others, the library is a place to read, for Caroline, it was not just a repository of knowledge but a playground for her true love - Cybersecurity. 

No one knows this because she never felt comfortable enough to tell. 

She felt good about being an ethical hacker but she never felt the need to divulge this with anyone.

She knew what she had to do about Matt's issue. 

So she pull on her headphones to act like she couldn't hear anyone. 

She opened her laptop. 

She logged in. 

She opened her phone, opened the mail she had created in Professor wilson name and sent a mail to herself.

Matt.

Caroline has an incoming mail on her phone. He opened it and saw that it was from her illicit lover. 

He clicked on the message. 

"We can text  through this link, it is totally safe" 

He clicked on it. 

Caroline 

Bingo. 

The link she sent to herself has a malware called Remote Access Trojan. Immediately he clicked on the link, she had access to his phone. She just needed his bank and wallet apps. 

Matt

He realised that the bad network was also affecting his phone. He left his phone on the table and went to get his mifi. 

Caroline 

She realised she had access to only the bank apps, so she started from there. She knew his pin. He used one for everything. She entered his and transferred 15,000 dollars to an offshore account. She realised that the wallet was going to be trickier. It asked her a security question which was the name of the preschool he went to.

She is sure she knows this because it was something he used to mention during their relationship. He loved the place because he was in love with his preschool teacher and he often checked Facebook for updates on her life. She always found that weird too.

Matt. 

He wanders back to the sitting room and notices something weird. 

Caroline

The name comes to her immediately she remembers that it was a Catholic school. She types it in and was able to send money to her own wallet address as that was untraceable. 

She goes into his drive, deletes everything he has on everyone he has stalked. She was sick to the stomach when she found out that she was not his only victim. 

She logs out of his phone. 

She needs to flash her phone, and probably get rid of it. That will remove whatever access he has. 

Matt. 

He noticed that the weather was about to change. It was going to rain which was weird because it was summer. He realised that his video games had loaded but he had notifications on his  phone. 

He checked his phone and saw that his account had been cleared out. Has to be an issue with the bank.

An hour later, the same thing. Nothing was reversed. He needed to get to the bank and the police station if needed.
