They say the best way to predict the future is to create it. So if we’re all able to create anything we want in life, it would make sense to create the good things that make life worth living.

Many people like to think of life as a school but I rather see it as a playground. Like children stuck in their classrooms eagerly looking forward to recess, many of us look forward to that big break from all the heavy lifting we do each day. And just like recess, the break is short, and before we know it we’re back in the classroom again.

It’s no wonder that whenever break time comes, it’s up to us to either make it memorable or not. Some of us spend it sulking in a corner or afraid to play with other kids, while the rest of us spend it having fun; sliding merrily down the slide, swinging gleefully on the swings, or playing games with our friends. Either way, it’s up to us to decide how we want to spend recess.

When I think of a playground, I think of a happy place designed for children to have fun and enjoy themselves. But funny enough, not all kids have fun on the playground. Some get injured and some don’t play at all. And just like a playground, our universe is built the same way. It’s designed to be our happy place where we come to have fun. In it are all the swings, merry-go-rounds, and slides that make playing memorable but some of us still get hurt.

In the end, it remains our ultimate choice to decide what we truly want to create.
