The Ayigiyaga Dance

Life is a big dance stage

With drummers who beats the drum to life

Endlessly to make music of life

They beat rigorously and fiercely

Tunes comes to life

Slow rhythm and fast one

Moody, sad and sometimes joyous

The tunes set the dance

Dance we must dance

Even when we don’t understand

The tune that comes from the drums

The stage is big enough for dance

Nobody cares how you dance

When you don’t dance well, they overlook

They cheer you on when you dance good

But it’s only for a moment,

Before the tune changes and you lose your rhythm

Adamu, don’t be a spectator

Don’t wait for a familiar tune

Do the Ayigiyaga dance

Nobody will teach you, so dance

Asake, shake your hips,

And let your bum dance

Let your waist follow the rhythm

Try your best and hope for luck

You never know when it will come

The familiar tune you wait for

So better dance the ayigiyaga dance

So you don’t live a life full of regret

When you are taken off the stage of life.
