A Good Friday, is that day you look forward to,
A weekend of rest doing the things that excite you, things of fun
Champagne flowing like you are at the wedding at Cana
A Good Friday, is that holiday you've wanted so badly,
No more work and surrounded by those you love,
Laughter fills the air, you'd think they had just resurrected Lazarus.
A Good Friday, is that date you planned with your lover
Looking at your menu and discussing future plans,
Chicken may be involved, no bread but definitely wine, it isn't the last supper.
That Good Friday, is the day the right was wronged
And He was surrounded by foes
Their celebration, His prayer
That Good Friday, is the day looked down upon his mother
Her gaze showing it's unexpected thoughts
Her tears silent against the roars of celebration
That Good Friday, is the day the veil of the temple was lifted
That God may see His bride
And that His bride may no longer hide her joy
That Good Friday, is the day we now celebrate
And we can boldly say,
Jesus died for you and for me
It all happened on that Good Friday
On the Cross He hanged
That we may be freed of the chains that hung us.
