Mom! Where are you? " I want some Ice cream and Pizza" says Precious as she dances round the table.

Precious is a beautiful young girl who is still in her Junior Secondary school One.She's an Igbo girl but she and her family stays in Yoruba land, Ibadan to be precise.

On the 25th of December, 2018, Precious walked up to her Mom, Mrs Chinedu and her Dad, Mr Chinedu requesting for her Christmas Cloth and Shoes. Oh, let me introduce The chinedus' to you.

Mr Chinedu is an hardworking man who works in one of the biggest Companies in Ibadan as an Accountant and Mrs Chinedu is a business Woman who sells foodstuffs at Bodija.

Mr Chinedu tries everything possible to make his family happy and he believes that "All work and no play, makes Jack a full boy".

Every weekend, Mr Chinedu takes his children and wife out and most especially, In the Second Week of the 12th month of every year, Mrs Chinedu would take her children to Gbagi Market in Ibadan to get items for Christmas before things become more expensive during the festive period.

She would take them to the fashion designer and also measure the length of her children's feet with Broom stick to get them Christmas shoes. She would get them toys and other Christmas Items. Every year, Precious, Promise and Peculiar would always have the Lovely ad Memorable Christmas Party.

Some years later, the Country stated going through lots of ups and downs, things were getting more expensive, Salaries were not increasing, Petrol became scarce. All of these really affected Mr Chinedu and his family.

Festive periods was already becoming a regular First term holiday for the children, No Christmas caps, No chicken, No ShopRite, No more gathering of children outside dancing and Singing " Merry Christmas", No more Santa Clause or Father Christmas out there sharing gifts and no more bouncing Castle for Precious and her younger siblings.

All of these had been happening for the some couples of years in Mr Chinedus' house, little wonder did Precious stop informing her parents about the school Christmas carol.

Where is the Joy in Christmas?

Where is the Anticipatory spirit?

Where is the Christmas trees, Christmas lights, Christmas glasses and wrist watches that Grandma would always get for us them?

Where are the Christmas cloths, Balloons and Ribbons we used to beautify the house?

Where are the Improvised Decorations we made with Papers, water colours, Scissors and the Cello tapes we used to make ribbons, draw santa on the paper and write " Merry Christmas"?

Where is the Disco light, Where is the Christmas bands, candies and melodious songs that brings Lovely smile on the faces of the kids showing the beauty in the teeths which is as white as snow and the beauty of their lips which could lighten up a dark room?

Where is the pure love seen when small children gather round the tables to eat the Christmas Rice in their small take away neatly packed in the fancy nylons?

Where are the Christmas balloons we always keep after the Christmas carol?

Where is Shinny Lipgloss Aunty Ngozi would always put on our lips and shapen it with her fingers to save us from having dry lips?

Where is the Dirty December?

All of these were the questions going on on Precious's mind as she sat outside looking at people on the streets going up and down to their places of work.

Where are those men that would stay on the road that would dress like Father Christmas and sell Christmas items?

She kept on thinking about all of these as she licked her lips over and over again to keep it moist.

I can't even remember the Christmas colour.

I can't even see kids playing with sands, with only pants on, licking candies and playing the Christmas drama.

Is Christmas gradually going into extension?

If the poor situation of the country would take our Happy Christmas away, what will bring it back when the country gets better?

I think it is time we save Christmas before December becomes a Normal holiday for the children.

Precious Soliloquizing ,"How can I make people see the good in Christmas and enjoy it" What can I do?

How can the fun and happiness be restored?

She paused for a while, rose on her feet, went inside the house, took some papers and water colours to make some paints.

She gathered her friends, told them her plans and went to the street of Mokola in Ibadan.

They begin to hang the decorations they made, the balloons they bought and with her Daddy's Public Address System, she screamed" Merry Christmas everyone"

This is a season of joy, happiness and Fun.

Let everyone come together and have fun because it is Christmas time.

Let the old and Young come and sing the " Twelve days of Christmas again"

The poor situation of the country should not take our Christmas away, Parents, bring out the decoration clothes and Let us paint the town Red, Green and Gold.

We say No to a boring Christmas.

We say No to Christmas without our Santa.

We say No to Christmas with Dry lips, or has the problems of the country taken away all the lipgloss and Oil from us?

I know things are not going well financially in the Country but we can still make our December dirty.

Christmas is not all about the best cloth and shoes we want to buy but we could not afford, the Chicken we want to eat but could not eat, Christmas is not about the Bags we want to buy but could not get or the most expensive Human Hair we can't even afford........... Christmas is all about sharing pure love among ourselves, Let us have fun together with the little we have.

Christmas is a season of love where we share what we have and a special time out of billions of time to even extend our warm greetings to the prisoners, Orphans and less privileged too.

Boys and girls, Daddies and Mummies, Uncles and Aunties,Grandfathers and Grandmothers, we are not older than Christ so , Let us rock Christmas because it is Christ's Birthday.

Let us celebrate with Christ because he his the reason for the season.

Let us do something and not just sit in our rooms and watch Christmas die and fade away right before our eyes, let us also show our children and grandchildren the beauty of Christmas.

Beyond the cloths, food, shoes, let us go out and share the gift of salvation, have fun, eat together, show some love to people around us and tell the world about the love of Christ.

Shoes and bags are not the reason for the season but Christ is the reason for the season so let us celebrate him by Loving him and loving others around us genuinely.

This is the little gift we have for the community as we celebrate Christ. Precious and her friends brought out Candies to share for the community as they started dancing and singing various Christmas songs.

Glory, Adeola, David, Oluwaseun and Oluwafolakemi were the great dancers for the day while other boys and girls sang and Promise was the one with the sticks making beats that went smoothly with the songs and dance steps.

It was indeed a memorable Christmas as the community joined them in singing and dancing.

Some minutes later, Precious and her friends became the talk of the Town, they were trending on the Internet when the Governor of Oyo state as at that time saw the videos on the internet.

Governor Adebayo David was impressed and since then, he declared that on the 25th of every December, dancers,Actors, Singers, Poets and others will come together at the street of Mokola in Ibadan to wish everyone Merry Christmas with their performances.

After a long time, When people from other states saw how the People of Ibadan lived in Love, Unity and Joy, Taking some time to celebrate Christmas together became a tradition in the country as Dancers, Singers, Speakers and other people gather in every state of the country to wish themselves Merry Christmas with lots of Loves and Joy filled in there hearts.

Indeed, December 25, 2018 was indeed a December to remember.

Though, precious is now a granny, but she was able to save Christmas for her self, her friends and for generations to come.

Every Christmas season should always be a December to remember.
