Technology law therefore, is that branch of law which seeks to handle the influence of technology in the society. 

It encompasses legal issues arising from the use, development and deployment of technology. Covering multiple legal issues in relation to intellectual property regulation, privacy law, cyber security law, data protection law and e- commerce, technology law explores the relationship between law and technology.

Legal Tech on the other hand, refers to the use of technology to enhance and organize legal processes. It involves the usage of applications and other technological tools to improve legal practice. Legal tech encompasses e- filling systems, electronic evidence used in the courts, online dispute mechanisms, etc.

The substantial distinction tech law and legal tech lies on the fact that tech law deals with the real legal issues surrounding the regulation of technology while legal tech deals with the use of technology in legal practice.
