I AM MY FATHERS CHILD- a poem

It is a hard pill to swallow,

You curse at the realization as a tear drops,

It cannot be,

Why mother? Why is this happening?

I wanted to be different, I chose to be different.

So why? Why can I not escape it?

I wanted to be better for me, for us all.

It’s not just the blood that flows through you, It’s not just your genetic build,

It’s everything, from the way you talk, to the way you act, your habits, your procrastination,

Everything you hated and wanted to make different.

Do you accept it? Do you still try to change? To be better?

How do you keep trying when it seems like a waste?

I want to be better and i shall aspire to be,

Basking in the dysphoria of it all.

Alas now I know,

I am truly my fathers child and it shall be the end of me.
