THICK OR THIN- What do the women of this century want to be?

The world keeps evolving and so do people's standards. We jump from one trend to the other. Revisiting things we once condemned as the new normal.

The last century witnessed the model body type as the slim or body size four. We can recollect in the movie Devil Wears Prada(2006), Nigel claims that size " two became new four and zero became the new two". Even when Andy says she is size six, Nigel replies that it " is the new fourteen".

Almost every lady of the last century saw being slim as the ideal body size. They wanted moderate curves and all to fit into small dresses. There was a bandwagon effect which made almost every woman believe that being slim was you being at your healthiest. Even when Ariana Grande appeared skinnier a little while back, she said she was at her "healthiest".

Then, models were all skinny. Now,we have plus sized models and all other body sized models.

In this century, women have struggled to reveal their stance but we can see where most are heading. They all want to be thick!! They want their body to look like a proper fraction. They just want to have that slim waist, wide hips and banging butts. This is seen in the aso ebi dresses of most African ladies. They implore the use of corsets to accentuate their waist and give more definition to their hips. They want that hourglass figure.

Some even go under the knife to get their butt and hips done. The patient ones go to the gym to work on their glutes.

I feel like this is also a trying time for women without thick thighs as the ceiling challenge burns like wide fire in the bush. Well, trying time for women who want to be intimidated.

The standardization of a body type or size is placed most times by celebrities of great affluence. Though, it might not have been their intention but their fans see their body type and tag as "perfect" or "ideal". But truth be told, beauty should have no standard.

Nicki Minaj's body type raised the bar of what being sexy should look like. Most girls felt not so confident in their body shape as long as it was not a clone of Nicki Minaj's. Some got depressed because they did not have the means to go all out to look like her.

Few years ago, Rihanna used mannequins with hip dips , belly pouches during her fashion show. She was on the path of body positivity. This helped some ladies to feel confident in their body type. They now flaunt their belly pouch and love handles.

As you cannot change your genes for now, some body shape or size are accustomed to some people. Though there are few healthy measures to change the body size, but manipulation of body shape most times is from insecurity.

Body positivity should be emphasized by people of affluence and influence instead of body type standardisation. People influence one another. Let us help others feel confident in who they are. One is never made to look the other. Once, you start to alter who you are to look like another, you are just a clone- an inferior.

Now that the world has shifted its gaze from slim ladies, what is the fate of women who had gone all out even to the extreme procedures to lose weight. Oh! You are happy because you've not lost weight or because you're not skinny. I hear some celebrities are removing their implants to look more natural. Do you think their fans will follow them to do the same? Who knows what would be the next ideal body size? I am as clueless as you are.
