Love happens in various ways.
It can be when you meet Mr. Right, or when you focus more on developing yourself. It can be in the way you interact with people, or when you finally make it to your dream place.
Love can also be in the form of a newborn.
Oh, how beautiful that sounds!
The parents have been anticipating it. They are overjoyed at the news. It first starts with the announcement of the pregnancy, then the planning starts.
The parents are excited, they announce it to people or some, just lay low on the gram. The "womb watchers" begin to talk. She looks big, her stomach is bigger?
Other people's children remind them of you, their precious jewel. When they visit the mall or store, they go to the children's section to check what they have, they end up buying on impulse. Don't be surprised when they buy a 1 year old cloth for you, they know it will surely fit you.
Then they get the ultrasound picture of you, you are everywhere in the house. In the living room, in the bedroom, on the washing machine, just name it.
There is also a gender reveal or a baby shower. Family and friends come out to celebrate with them. A lot of games are played. Then they pop balloons to know your gender or use a fire extinguisher. It's a girl or a boy or maybe both! The excitement can't be contained.
The preparation starts! They buy all the things you need. Ranging from clothes to shoes, to diapers. All your necessities are bought.
They also buy you a crib you will end up not using. They decorate the nursery themselves, instead of calling the builders to do that for them. They want you to feel all the love.
Then your mum starts preparing, she gets all the things she needs. She is in her "about to be mummy" mode.
The hospital bag is packed, the house is ready for your arrival.
After contracting and labor for some time, you come out looking all white and full of life. You are ready to conquer the world.
You feel your mothers warmth for the first time, your parents shed some tears.
Your father is astonished. He marvels at your mum's power. She did that!
You are washed and brought back to your parents. Your parents can't get enough of you, they grin from ear to ear.
They announce your birth to the family and friends. Everyone sends in their well wishes. Your grandparents can't stop dancing.
If your parents are active on social media ,they post a picture of interviewed fingers or they announce it with a pregnancy shoot.
They can even announce months after your birth.
After some days at the hospital, they take you home. Your grandmothers are already there. They are ready to do omugwo. People troop in and out to celebrate you. Refreshments are given out. Sometimes a carton of biscuits or drinks. They dish out advice to your mum. Do this, do that.
Then you are named. You have several names even though you will end up answering to only two or one. Your parents are the happiest. They are beautifully dressed and geared up. There is a lot to eat and drink. There is even enough to take home.
Your birth makes a new beginning. A journey to parenthood. A fulfilling journey.
May God bless our parents. May they reap the fruits of their labor. Amen!
